Cora Alwin

Mrs. Cora Alwin, 69 of Harrisburg, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at her home. She was born March 17, 1949 in Newport, Arkansas to Fred and Ivie Jane Neidiever Murphy. She was of the Baptist Faith, retired salesperson from Continental Directories of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Tupperware manager over twenty years with her best friend, Una Williams. She was an avid reader, enjoyed games, strong willed, kind, considerate, thoughtful and always spoke her mind. Survivors include two sons: James “Jimmy” Dale Birdsong and wife Jan of Prescott, Arkansas, Steven Casey Sheets and wife, Lori of Prescott, Arkansas; two brothers: Robert Lee Murphy and James Samuel Murphy both of Newport, Arkansas; two sisters: Evelean Sutterfield of Newport, Arkansas, Patricia Ann Kirby and husband Midge of Harrisburg, Arkansas; five grandsons: James Russell Larry Birdsong, Dereck Blake Cook, Zachary Daniel Birdsong all of Prescott, Arkansas, sons of Jimmy Dale Birdsong; Brayden Sheets, Justin Sheets both of Prescott, Arkansas, sons of Steven and Lori Sheets; four great grandchildren: Russell Birdsong, Gunner Birdsong, Brayden Birdsong, and newborn baby girl Birdsong, which has not been yet named.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by five brothers: Edward, Eugene, Roy Dean, Cecil Ray, and Lanny Murphy. The family has requested a private disposition under the direction of Faith Funeral Service, Manila, Arkansas.
