Roy Ray Duty

Roy Ray Duty, 90, of Piggott, Arkansas passed away on May 8, 2022 at St. Francis Medical Center Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was born on May 27, 1931 in Piggott, Arkansas to William Thomas and Ida Mae Steward Duty. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marmaduke, Arkansas and prior to that he was a song leader and member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Piggott, Arkansas. He served in the Army during the Korean war, then came back home to Piggott and opened a gas station and a paint store. He served as Chief of Police for the city of Piggott in the late 50’s and 60’s. He later served as the lunchroom manager for the Piggott School District. He managed the Sugar Creek Country Club with his wife Ann, for several years. Before fully retiring, he owned two car washes. He always wanted to know how everyone was doing, he was a caring man and will be missed by many including his extended family at the VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff Missouri where he lived for the past few years. He is survived by; his wife: JoAnn Duty of Piggott, Arkansas; one son: Dennis Duty (Shelly) of Jonesboro, Arkansas; one daughter: Debra Massey (Larry) or Piggott, Arkansas; one step-daughter: Tracy Ballard (Joe) of Piggott, Arkansas; five grandchildren: Hunter Duty (Caitlin) of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Rachel Duty Young (Jeremy) of Paragould, Arkansas, Nicole Duty Close (Corbin) of Alabaster, Alabama, Angie Webb of Paragould, Arkansas, and Allen Massey (Daphne) of Oak Grove, Arkansas ; eight great-grandchildren: River Young of Paragould, Arkansas, Raylee Young of Paragould, Arkansas, Brittany Schmidt (Erik) of San Diego, California, Brent Massey (Natalie) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Keaton Massey (Hannah) of Paragould, Arkansas, Aspen Webb (Dawson Greer) of Paragould, Arkansas, Emily Webb of Paragould, Arkansas, and Zach Childers (Blakely) of Rector, Arkansas; eight great-great-grandchildren: Lucas, Leah, Leon, Rylee, Lane, Brantley, Oakley, and Parker; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by; his parents: William Thomas and Ida Mae Duty; his wife: Ann Parks Duty; three brothers: Edwert, Charlie and Jim Duty; two sisters: Kathelyn Duty and Kay Duty Skaggs. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Bro. Kim Bridges and Bro. Kevin Murray officiating. Interment will follow at the Piggott Cemetery, with military honors, under the direction of Faith Funeral Service. The family will receive visitors at the church from 12:00 p.m. until service time.
