Phoenix, I know you're flying high already, reunited with Neytiri, and so many other dogs who left before you. You were an angel here on Earth and I know you'll watch over all of us who will continue to keep your legacy alive. You touched more lives than you ever knew, and you'll be missed by more than you ever imagined. We were blessed to have you here. Fly high without pain. With love from one of your sisters in rescue, Rosemary ??

  7. MaryBeth Yannessa, Pennsylvania & Texas says

I met Phoenix through a mutual friend as we were trying to move Akitas North to PA, East to Florida and our last trip that never happened - west to Idaho. She loved animals and rescue. It was her passion, and she was good at it. To this day, I cannot believe that you are gone. We talked early that evening. I know that you were greeted at Rainbow Bridge by Neytiri and all of the dogs that went before and were waiting to cross the bridge with the Rescuer. We will all continue to save the precious lives in your honor. SafeHaven Animal Rescue Team will never forget the friendship. May God wrap his arms around your mom and sisters and comfort them during this difficult time.

  8. Jerry & Melissa Allen , Caddo valley, AR says

Phoenix & I were together for 17 years...married the last 7 years. We had been separated for a year. Our divorce was almost final. We tried to remain friends. I still don't want to believe this happened. I am happy she is not in pain any longer. She will be missed by many. Go grab Neytiri's leash... she is waiting for you. Fly high Phoenix! I will always have some good memories. ??

I am just absolutely saddened by the passing of Phoenix. I had the honor of meeting Phoenix when I was trying to find a rescue for a German Shepherd that showed up at my house. I was all out of options to help save that precious dog. I just could not keep the German Shepherd for myself. Phoenix helped me to calm down and told me everything would be alright. And…. It was. She was amazing. That was the start of us building a friendship. We had lots of laughs and shared lots of stories. David and I have a mini poodle that Phoenix brought us from PA. Looking at Bodie, (our poodle), I will always think of Phoenix. Phoenix is one of a kind, a absolute “ Jewel “ of a person. To all of Phoenix’s Family, Friends, Rescues, Veterinarians, Foster Moms and Dads, May God hold all of you tight and help walk each of you through this journey without that “ Jewel” ????????????

  13. RITA RITCHEY, East Tennessee says

Phoenix, as most of us in the Animal Rescue world know you as. You are FREE and are now with Neytiri and others that have crossed the Rainbow Bridge before.

  14. Jean Durbin, McKinleyville says

I am sorry to say I never met Phoenix as I am in NW California. I learned of her accident and fight for life through a Facebook friend who did know and love her. I was praying for her recovery and hoping that she would one day be back at her mission of love and mercy: saving dogs' lives. I am part of a rescue where I am and good transporters are rare and worth their weight in gold. Phoenix was obviously one of those who went way beyond what was expected and was also a champion of the all too common underdog. I have been so impressed by what her friends who knew her have revealed about the lengths to which she went to save a dog and find the home or rescue it needed in order to make it to that wonderful forever home that we all wish for every dog. I wish I had known her. I am so very sad and sorry that she won't be here any longer to do what she loved to do and was so good at. It's a tragic loss to the entire animal rescue community which she so generously and ably served. I am sorry for her family who will no longer be able to enjoy her presence and love. She tried so hard to make it. Her spirit was and is indomitable. She lives on and will inspire all of us who knew her or knew about her to never give up. The rescue I co-partner in California is called, 'It's A Dog's Life'. Phoenix was willing to go to bat for that life, no matter what. She will be sorely missed. My condolences to her family and all who knew her and loved her. Rest in Peace, Phoenix.

  15. Diana Linville, Hernando MS says

My sympathies to the family and close friends of Phoenix. I knew her through animal rescue and this is a major loss to the rescue community. I am so saddened this terrible accident happened to her. For sure, this loss is hard to process. Prayers to all.
