Mary Ruth McMurran
June 15, 1929 - December 25, 2022

Mary ‘Ruth’ McMurran, 93, of New Market, Alabama, passed away surrounded by her Collins family, in the arms of her granddaughter, Summer, on Christmas Day 2022 in Caraway, Arkansas. She was born near Birmingham, AL, on June 15, 1929, to Ethel Adair and Daniel G. Laird. She married Harold P. McMurran July 4, 1947. He passed just 12 hours after she did. She was a member of the Calvary Bible Church in Huntsville, Alabama for many years. Mary was a volunteer at several hospitals in Huntsville, Alabama. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, sewing, traveling, and spending time with her family. Survivors include; son, Scott (Li) McMurran of Madison, AL; daughters, Dian Collins of Caraway, AR and Melissa (Bill) Dougherty of Arizona; Ten grandchildren; Sixteen great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and extended family. Ruth was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Willie Nell; and brother, Dan. The family has requested private arrangements under the direction of Faith Funeral Service.
