Peggy Watson Pugh Aker
August 9, 1934 - November 7, 2024

Peggy Watson Pugh Aker, 90, of Jonesboro, Arkansas passed away on November 7, 2024. She was born on August 9, 1934 in Bay, Arkansas to Ed and Bessie Watson. Peggy was a member of the South Caraway Baptist Church and loved Jesus. She married Billy Pugh in 1950 and was an Air Force wife for 22 years. They lived overseas several times and all over the U.S. They retired in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Bill passed away in 1991 after 40 years of marriage. Many years later she married an old friend, George Aker. She loved to quilt, garden, and flea market. She later opened a quilt shop. Her love of gardening and quilting came from memories of her family’s farm in Bay and her mother’s love of sewing. Her youngest son lived in Southeast Asia and she and her daughter were able to travel many years, visiting Thailand, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Her love of travel continued with George as they traveled out west many times. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she loved keeping them as much as she could. After George passed, she lived with her oldest son for many years and loved taking long drives. Survivors include three children: Steve Pugh (Sharon) of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Paula Scallions (Chuck) of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Bryan Pugh (Cindy Ray) of Fayetteville, Arkansas; eight grandchildren: Rachel, Barrett, Rebecca, Paige, Jessica, Drew, Abbie, Samantha; twenty-one great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother: Ed “Buck” Watson (Emily) of Jonesboro, Arkansas; one sister: Linda Nichols (Ronnie) of Brookland, Arkansas; and a host of other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Bessie Watson; one brother, Charles Watson: husband and father of the children, Bill Pugh and George Aker. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at First Christian Church in Jonesboro, Arkansas with Pastor Don Martin officiating. Burial will be private.
