John Albert McCarroll

John A. McCarroll, 87 died on June 1, 2016 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. John was born on October 31, 1928 in Black Rock, Arkansas to the late John E. and Vergie Mary (Ward) McCarroll where he resided all his life except from 1943-45, when his family moved to Detroit, Michigan, and his father worked in a defense plant. Mr. McCarroll was a retired cattle farmer, a genealogist, and avid reader and domino player. He is survived by four nephews: Don Laird of St. Louis, Missouri, C.V. McCarroll of Black Rock, Arkansas; Jerry Gibbens of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and David Davis of Denton, Arkansas; three nieces: Shirley Hester of Bono, Arkansas, Bonnie Cullen of Bono, Arkansas and Betty Devault of Washington, Missouri. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings: Lorene (McCarroll) Gibbens, Jessie (McCarroll) Laird, Vernon McCarroll and Gustavia (McCarroll) Davis. Graveside services will be Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 2:00pm in the Oak Forrest Cemetery in Black Rock, Arkansas with David Davis and Jerry Gibbens officiating.
