  2. Carolyn Burdett, Atoka, Tennessee says

I will always hold fondest memories of her sweet soul. Kari had a beautiful smile and was always so beautiful to me. She went out of her way to embrace me with love. Kari loved her sons and daughter deeply and I remember precious moments of hugs and laughter. She gave so much to others. I choose to remember the beautiful moments and how much she gave to others who were in need.

  4. Donna Kingston, Paragould, AR. says

I met Kari thru Celebrate Recovery at Southside Community Church, Pgould. I begin helping Pastor Pat Graham cook and serve the Friday nite meal before the service. I would usually arrive at church around 11:30 ish and Kari would be there rain or shine, having caught a ride with someone, waiting for someone to open the doors. I had never meet anyone like Kari. She was unkept, thirsty, hungry and sometimes sleepy. She would find an empty class room and take a nap on the hard floor or maybe lay across some chairs with her arm as her pillow. It took a while for me to be able to understand Kari when she spoke as her speaking clearly ability had long gone. I soon learned to pick out the words she was saying….like Mom….she called me Mom. Kari was always very helpful . She would always volunteer to set up tables or place the utensils and napkins in the right place or wash dishes. Kari was always generous with her thank you whenever I did anything for her like treat the wasp stings she got on her face or give her something to eat or drink. She was always appreciative. Oh I know she could be very mean aggressive and even violent but never to me. I think that was the frustration and drugs. Through out the week I would worry about Kari…..did she have something to eat or drink. Did she have a place to sleep or get in out of the hot weather and mosquitoes, was she able to stay warm when it was so cold. I didn’t know how to find her. Kari loved her children, no matter what anyone says. She would mention her babies and one day as I was arriving at church, Kari jumped up from her bench outside, coming to me with outstretched arms and a big smile saying, Mom, I’m gonna get my kids back!!!! I found Kari’s Facebook posts from years passed. What an eye opener. She was struggling but always asking God for help. Kari was sick and addicted, needed help. Maybe she refused help, I don’t know. I think sometimes, we can be calloused, shake our pious head at the Karis in our town and forget that only by the grace of God, there go I. Rest In Peace, Kari. I will never forget you.
