James Junior Horne

James Junior Horne, 87, of Black Rock, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2016 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Mr. Horne was born on June 29, 1928 in Beech Grove, Arkansas to the late James Elmer and Mildred Anne Cloud Horne. Junior was a member of First Christian Church, Jonesboro, Arkansas. As an adult he moved to Michigan and worked for General Motors for thirty years, believing in a good day’s work he missed few, raising his children and appreciating work. He loved baseball, his kids, and grandkids. Survivors include; three sons: James Horne, Mark Horne (Lori), and Rick Horne (Lesa); four daughters: Louise Flanagan, Mildred Kennedy (Dennis), Pam Mattison, and Paul Turner (Cliff); one brother: Wayne Horne; one sister: Glenda Kilgore; twenty three grand children; thirty three great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.Mr. Horne was preceded in death by; grandparents: James Benton and Janie Hardin; parents; one brother: J. W. Horne; two sisters: Bonnie Jenkins and Betty Grubb; two wives: Luella Reed and Emma Brandon; one son: Bob Horne; one daughter: Susan Horne.Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the First Christian Church, 2600 Woodsprings Road, Jonesboro, Arkansas 72404 with Dr. Jerry Wilcox officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Forest Cemetery in Black Rock, Arkansas at 3:00 pm on Friday under the direction of Faith Funeral Service. The family will receive visitors on Friday at the church from 12:00 pm until service time. Pallbearers: loving grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers: First Christian BYKOTA Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the First Christian building fund. After the committal service at the cemetery, there will be a meal at the Black Rock community center.

    I am so very sorry to hear about Junior - I met him on a few occasions - mostly family reunions - and I remember him telling stories about growing up. I enjoyed listening to him talk. To his family - I am sorry for your loss and you have my deepest sympathy.
