Millie Appleby

Millie “Virginia” (Graham) Appleby, died Friday, March 24, 2017 at the age of 83. She had resided the past ten years at Crestpark Nursing Center in Marianna, Arkansas. She was born April 8, 1933 in Marianna, Arkansas to Jasper Wesley Graham and Scyntha Lou “Ada” (Davidson) Graham. She moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas with her first husband and later to Memphis, Tennessee; Oroville California; and her last residence before retiring was Freeport, Texas. She worked mainly as a waitress and on an oil rig ship as a cook. Mrs. Appley had nine children: Connie Bowen, Texas; Virginia Kay “Katie” Drey, Arizona, Julia Parker, Drury, Missouri; Shirley Jean Johnson, Texas; Florence Mullins, San Diego, California; Janie Goodwin, Kennett, Missouri; William Deal, Austin,Texas, and Kathryn Ewing, Springfield, MO. Mrs. Appleby is survived by two sisters: Shirley Kindley and Ethel Dean Davidson both of Marianna, Arkansas. She was predeceased by one daughter Karen Bowen of Arizona formerly of Texas and two sisters Lula Faye Lovell, Fair Christine Graham, and four brothers Ottis, Otto, Arl, and Larry Graham. Burial will be a private ceremony this summer when all of her children can reunite for the first time in Marianna, Arkansas. Donations in her memory may be sent to the Delta Childrens Home, P. O.
