John VanKirk

Mr. John Eugene Vankirk, age 59 of Lake City, Arkansas, died Monday, September 24, 2012 at Bay, Arkansas. Mr. Vankirk was born January 2, 1953 to the late James and Addie Vankirk in South Bend, Indiana and was a longtime area resident. Mr. Vankirk was a retired farmhand, an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by three daughters: Margaret Smith and husband Charles of Paragould, Arkansas, Brenda Pearson of Paragould, Arkansas and Crystal Johnson of Little Rock, Arkansas; one brother: Ray Vankirk and wife Patricia of Lake City, Arkansas; one sister: Pricilla Sokoll of Three Rivers, Michigan; eight grandchildren; Jonathan Smith, Zackary Smith, Chanler Ellis, Joshua Smith, Linsdey Smith, Zander Vankirk, George Conway, Jr. and Felicia Conway. Mr. Vankirk also leaves several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Vankirk was preceded in death by seven brothers: James Roy Vankirk, Jerry Lee Vankirk, Jay Vankirk, Bob Vankirk, Russell Vankirk, Bill Vankirk, and Gerald Vankirk; and two sisters: Martha Erwin and Margaret Wallace. Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 3:00pm at Lake City Cemetery, Lake City, Arkansas with Rev. Lloyd Simons officiating. The family will receive visitors Wednesday, September 26, 2012 from 12:00noon – 2:00 pm at Faith Funeral Service Chapel, Manila, Arkansas. Pallbearers: Jerry Vankirk, Jonathan Vankirk, Charles Vankirk, Chris Vankirk, Blake Vankirk and Tyler Gray. Honorary pallbearer: Gaylon Manis.
