Mary Austin

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Austin, 86, of Hoxie, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Lawrence Hall Nursing Home in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. Born April 4, 1928, in Portia, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Clay and Nettie Mae Wendell West. She was a retired school teacher who had received two Masters Degrees. She was member of First Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and enjoyed reading, sewing, especially crocheting, fishing and plants. Mrs. Austin is survived by: one daughter; Mona Turner and husband Larry of Jonesboro, Arkansas: one son; Joseph Allan Austin and wife Betty of Jonesboro, Arkansas; three grandchildren: Wendy Prater of Brookland, Arkansas, Joe Austin of Paragould, Arkansas and Chris Turner of Jonesboro, Arkansas; six great- grandchildren: Brock Austin, Drew Austin, Maddie Austin, Meredith Austin, Ryan Austin, all of Paragould, Arkansas and Sophia Prater of Brookland, Arkansas; one brother: Herbert Eugene West of Maine and a host of other family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Billy Frank Austin; one sister: Forrest Cole; one brother: Floyd West. Graveside services will be Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Lawrence County Memorial Park Cemetery in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas with Pastor Stacy William Prater officiating with Faith Funeral Service, Manila, Arkansas in charge of arrangements.
