Effie Presley

Mrs. Effie Lois Presley, age 77 of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Born June 26, 1937 in Carthage, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late L.G. and Estell Settlemeyer Brooks and was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church in Trumann where she enjoyed helping with Sunday school and church related hobbies. Mrs. Presley enjoyed reading her Bible and witnessing. She was a volunteer for the Trumann Community Center, retired from the Columbia Forrest Factory and was a member of the Red Hat Ladies Club. Mrs. Presley also volunteered for missionary work during hurricane Katrina and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by one son: Bobby Presley of Trumann, Arkansas; one daughter: Shelia Haggerty of Toledo, Ohio; step-children: Geraldine Barnes, Marsha Mars, Karen Gregory, Linda Gregory, Buster Presley and Jimmy Presley; two sisters: Bobbie Nell Jackson of Trumann and Georgette Guffey of Shirley, Arkansas; one brother: Jerry Lee Brooks of Trumann; grandchildren: Earl Owens of Jonesboro, Marty Brooks of Jonesboro, Shannon Owens of Jonesboro, Marisa Presley of Paragould and Miranda Lawrence of Trumann; great-grandchilren: Makenzie Brooks, Ashlyn Brooks, Bailey Brooks, Katie Brooks, Benjamin Hart, Dawson James Owens, Cloee Haggerty, Rhylee Haggerty, Rider Lewallen and Steven Pastrisco; great-grandchildren: Joey Haggerty, Nicole Haggerty and Randy Hunter; one great-great-grandchild: Legend Wayne Presley. Mrs. Presley also leaves a host of other family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son: James E. “Bud” Presley; one daughter: Lois Ann Owens; two brothers: Terry Brooks and Bennie Ray Brooks. Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 1:00pm at the Eastside Baptist Church in Trumann, Arkansas with Bro. Bobby Joe Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Log Cemetery in Brookland under the direction of Faith Funeral Service of Manila, Arkansas. The family will receive visitors Saturday, October 11, 2014 from 11:00am until service time at the church. Pallbearers will be William Jackson, Lee Jackson, Jr. Jackson, Marty Brooks, Earl Owens, Jr. and Shannon Owens.
